Dear Host Family,
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
My name is Fathima, a young, agile, enthusiastic, fun loving 56 year old. I live in Saxonwold, Johannesburg, with my husband who is also a professional in the education industry for over 10 years. I love reading in my spare time and am a wiz at general knowledge information. I am well traveled, an excellent communicator and fluent in English.
I am currently working as an au pair and have been doing so for the past 7 years. Along with all my others duties like preparing meals, bathing my children, enjoying stimulating activities and games, homework assistance, etc. I also tutor English, Afrikaans and Maths, am familiar with the regimes at schools like Curro and other private institutions, with a wealth of experience from grades 00 to 7, working with children from ages 8 months to 13 years old and am also well versed in their respective school syllabi and systems. I am able to perform my duties without micromanagement and with purpose and initiative. I am organised, excellent at time tabling, time management, scheduling, preparation and the timely execution of prioritised tasks. I learn and adapt easily and quickly to new and challenging situations.
I would love to be your next au pair because I love children and working with them, providing guidance and being their role model, as I am well aware of the responsibilities that come with child care and that it is not always, just about fun and games. I am used to handling difficult children, with patience, kindness, empathy and firmness too.
I am not demanding and will always respect the rules of your home. If something works not quite as it should, I prefer talking about it rather than ignoring it and expect the same from my host family.
I have have had only positive feedback and resounding successes with my previous families, their children and their grades, for which references are available upon request.
