Introduction to families
Dear Family I am a graduate with Honours in Clinical Psychology. I have vast experience in childcare, having studied it for the last four years as well as being an au-pair/tutor/babysitter for the last 10 years. I have worked with children from as young as 2 years old up to and including preteens and teenagers, as well as a number of special needs children. I have been trained in ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) and was practicing as an ABA instructor last year working with autistic children at a centre in Johannesburg. I am well qualified, having majored in Psychology and Linguistics at The University of Witwatersrand and graduating in 2012. I have undertake training in applied behavioural analysis and been accepted to to practice as an ABA instructor at an affiliate of the USA-based centre C. A. R. D. I am passionate and excited about Early Childhood Development, and am working towards one day completing my Masters in Special Needs and Childhood development. I have a long background working with special needs children, teens and adults, having volunteered, worked with and instructed them with an ABA approach. I also have au-paired for the last three years namely a 9 year old F and 12 year old M in 2012, a 3 year old M and 11 year old M in 2013 and a 2 year old F and 4 year old M in 2014/15
I am a dedicated, nurturing, loyal and patient individual. I am confident in my abilities and skills working with children to always have their's and their parent's best interests at heart. I am fully invested in each child who is placed into my care, and take my position very seriously, to always support, excite and engage children no matter what age to grow and develop towards their greatest potential in a safe and fun manner. I believe in creating educationally, emotionally, cognitively stimulating environments for children and seek to maintain this in all situations that a child may encounter, whether in the home or on outings. I do not believe in punitive/corporal punishment, rather opting for positive encouragement and reinforcement of behaviours that their parents would want from their children, which ultimately reduces the instances of behaviour that would not be wanted. I take great care to always respect the children I look after no matter the age, as it sets up and supports a caring environment for the children to grow and exercise some responsibility in adjusting their own behaviour and this grows self confidence and esteem.
I am an avid agility dog handler, and have been training and competing for over two years with my dog. I am also very passionate about outdoor recreational activities such as hiking and trail running. I love singing and dancing, and have been a part of choirs and dance competitions most of my life. I love cooking and hosting friends, and am an avid reader.

She works really well with children. She is able to communicate at their level and earn their trust. She takes time to listen to them and they respect her. She takes a personal interest in their wellbeing. My children adore her and she will be missed.
