Description of tutoring experience
Worked with kids who had learning disabilities. Using play to incorporate learning in the area of Maths, Reading, Phonics etc. Worked with a 5 year old who has dyslexia who refused to do anything related to numbers, writing, reading etc. I formulated my own methods and combined what I have learned in college to assist him. I used the game battleships to help him with learning the alphabet as well as recognizing and remembering numbers. I used packs of playing cards in a fun setting to help him with shapes as well as numbers and this helped with improving his memory amongst other things. In order for them to remember their shapes, I made fun, colourful shapes out of cardboard, gave them faces, put eyes on them and asked the kids to give them names. Example, Oscar Octagon, Rudie Rectangle etc. I also use outside play, mud play, balancing etc to help improve their cognitive development. I plan obstacle courses for them to do and number them.

Introduction to families
"Dear Family" message
I am a married mom of three children aged thirty eight, thirty seven and thirty four years old, as well as two grand daughters aged eleven and ten. I come from a large family and have eight siblings. I grew up in the beautiful town of Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape and was always surrounded by children. I am very passionate about children and it gives me great pleasure to watch them grow and develop. I am currently teaching Sunday School at my church to a group of kids aged seven to eleven years. I have worked in two day care facilities and loved every minute of it. I am soft spoken with a gentle nature and a person of great integrity. I am punctual and reliable and someone that you can depend upon. I am well organized and can think on my feet. I ensure you that your kids will be in the most capable hands and nothing will give me more pleasure then helping to shape their lives. I will nurture and care for them like they are my very own, thereby giving you the peace of mind that most busy moms need. I thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you. God Bless. Veronique
Why I would make the perfect au pair
First and foremost this is not just a paying job for me but my passion. Working out of one's passion is far more rewarding than just doing a job. I believe that I am both capable and strong and the fact that I have no current responsibilities will ensure that your kids receive my undivided attention.
Hobbies and other interests
I love cooking and baking, reading, enjoy long walks, sewing. I love camping and the great outdoors. I love the theatre as well as ballet and gymnastics. I also love singing and dancing as well as meeting new and interesting people.

Job description
Taking care of two girls, the youngest was 5 months old and the other 3 years. Making sure they are both stimulated and doing age appropriate tasks with them. Using puzzles, games, fantasy play, water play etc to stimulate their young minds. I worked very closely with the three year old as I noticed she had some delay in sensory processing. I brought this to the parents attention. I helped her to overcome this obstacle by tutoring her individually, spending lots of time with her and using play therapy and other forms of outside the box learning to engage with her. I prepared them nutritious meals as well as taking care of them when they were sick and ad hoc babysitting from time to time when the parents went away.

Employer comments
When Veronique first started, my oldest child (3) had a very limited vocabulary and struggled with concentration and problem solving activities – this had been noted in her annual report – and I was at a loss as to how I could help my child. Veronique’s – or “Auntie Vee’s” - arrival changed everything. Vee's creativity and vast imagination allowed her to discover what really interested my child and to engage at a much deeper level than other adults had managed (grandparents included!). This provided the safety and security for my child to find ways to express herself, she settled down and soon started enjoying puzzles and colouring in with Vee. After a few months I received raving reviews from the playschool about the progress my child had made, as well as the above-average care and consideration she showed towards her playmates. I attribute these social skills to Vee as well. In amongst all learning activities, Vee is single-minded and effective in imparting her own personal values of patience, kindness, goodness and self control. Vee’s work ethic is beyond reproach. She has never let us down and has always exceeded our expectations. By her own initiative she implemented major organisational changes to the children’s play area, which resulted in them being able to access their toys and clean up after themselves (thankfully Vee teaches good habits and healthy disciplines as well!) Vee is a systems-based thinker with great attention to detail, who takes pride in cleanliness and neatness. She also is an exceptionally good cook and prepared wholesome, nutritious meals for the children weeks in advance. Again this is a service I have never asked her to do, but one she initiated and did in her own time. Vee went beyond the call of duty of any au pair or private tutor - she was a stabilising force in our home who braught an enormous amount of positive and creative energy. Her years of experiencein early childhood development meant that I trust her judgement completely. I am incredibly grateful for the years Vee spent with our family and I know she will form a valuable part of any family she joins. Please feel free to call me with any queries.
