Introduction to families

"Dear Family" message

I was born in Portugal and arrived in South Africa as a toddler. I was however given SA citizenship and am the proud owner of an SA passport and a EU passport.

Why I would make the perfect au pair

I absolutely adore children and since my daughters do not seem to make me a grandmother I am willing to work with other children. I am kind and compassionate but also strict when it's warented. I do not believe in corporal punishment. Will rather try and reason with the child and make him/her understand the error of his/her way. I do not smother them but I love giving hugs. I love teaching, of course appropriately to their age. I will follow any rules of do's and don't of the parents. In a family of 6 children where I was the only girl, I had to look after my brothers and I amassed a lot of experience for doing so. I am young at heart and still love playing games with the children and although parents teach their own children life skills I might also assist.

Hobbies and other interests

I love to read, knit, do needlework, crochet, play games when I'm with children. Love to teach them new things whether in the house or outside. My baking is limited to cookies but this is where I involve them as well. I love making birthday cards which they will also learn if it's for their own family. I can do create hobbies and we can do things together such as baking cookies which for an adult may seem trivial but for them at their age is an accomplishment. Only of course with the parent's permission. I like to make a roster for other activities and discuss with the parent first.
