"Dear Family" message

My name is Linah N, I am 24 years old. I was born and bred in a small township, Sharpeville (Vereeniging) in the Vaal Triangle. I matriculated in 2017 at Sapphire Secondary School where I attained my matric certificate with Science and History related subjects. In the following year I took an unplanned gap year. In 2019, I was fortunate enough to qualify and study fashion design at the Vaal University of Technology. I am a very hard-working individual, and I am fully dedicated. I consider myself to be friendly and passionate, and I can work very well with people, and this has helped me greatly in the fashion field. My upbringing has shaped the young woman I've become. The ups and downs, triumphs, and mishaps have given me valuable lessons to withstand the obstacles that I have and will face. Growing up as the only child forced me to be creative and imaginative, which I feel is an important developmental self-expression. The more I grow, the more I realize the importance of valuable unions. My friends and family are my support structure. They've seen the worst and the best of me, and I am forever grateful to have them in my life. They make this life thing so easy. I have a very supportive family. It is not a large family.

Why I would make the perfect au pair

I am interested in becoming an au pair because I adore children and have been babysitting since high school not only was I babysitting at home but at church too. Me volunteering to help at the daycare has taught me so much and it has also helped me realize how much I enjoy being around children, they are amazing little human beings who are so innocent in a way that everything makes sense when one is with them. I am prepared and well aware that being an au pair comes with bigger responsibilities. I also believe that the opportunity for cultural exchange for a few months or years seems very appealing, being in a foreign province, learning about the people and the place, increasing language abilities, meeting many other people, and most significantly, meeting the host family to learn their customs and beliefs and their culture it will play a crucial part in helping me create a bond not only with the children but with them also so that they can fully trust me with their children's lives. Being an au pair will help me adapt to new circumstances as I will be in a new country trying new things which I am not used to and it will help me gain a lot of self confidence.

Hobbies and other interests

I spend my free time either sewing or volunteering at a daycare or even babysitting at home. I recently found a new thing that I love doing when I am free, which is researching. I am very curious lately, so most of the times I find myself busy researching things that I find interesting or things that feel like I need to know about. Reading is one of my favorite things to do, I read novels and watch podcasts on YouTube. Cooking is something that I also like doing. Making clothes it's time-consuming, but sewing helps me relax and I enjoy it. I am a really outgoing person, I am always prepared to try new things.
