I tutored 3 small children (ages 3-6) from 2020-2021. We did all the school subjects as well as science experiments. Originally I was just a tutor for a brother and sister, but as time went along another child joined us.

Introduction to families
Hi, Christy here! Thank you for stopping by my profile, your time is much appreciated. I would describe myself as a kind, gentle and empathetic person. I am completing my honours degree in psychology. I would love to gain some more experience as an au pair as I feel it will help me to further my studies for my master's. I also love interacting with children/adolescents and have a lot of au pair experience. I am a shy person but enjoy laughing and smiling. Furthermore, I am also a hard-working person, punctual and a problem-solver. I graduated cum laude with my bachelor's degree in psychology. I was also part of a programme at my university known as PsySSA at SACAP. PsySSA is a big psychological organisation in South Africa. In my university they allowed us to take part in creating community initiatives to help combat various issues in South Africa. My group in particular focused on gender-based violence. We held various workshops on campus and online. It was a great process and has helped me to build confidence and gain leadership skills. During my third year of studying, I was part of a work-integrated learning programme (WIL) where I was placed at a rehabilitation centre. My time there included hosting my own workshops as well as participating in the programme. It was a very eye-opening experience and I learnt a lot about addiction and about the misconceptions around it.
I would make a great au pair as I tend to have an optimistic outlook. I believe laughter is quite literally the best medicine and I enjoy the creative minds/ideas that children have.
I am a very creative person. I enjoy DIY projects, puzzles and painting. Any creative projects are my thing. I love gardening and animals. I also enjoy singing from time to time. I have also completed a course in flower arranging and function decor, volunteered at Hospice Wits, worked at markets selling Colleen’s sauces. I really enjoy trying new things and exploring different places. I’m always open to learning/trying something new.

My duties as an au pair included fetching the child from school and dropping him off at home. Once home, I would assist with homework and entertain him with activities once homework was completed. We would play soccer outside which he loved, I would supervise him swimming in the summer and occasionally join in. We also played on the trampoline together outside. During school holidays, I would help the family if needed. I would sometimes take him to playdates or the park, zoo etc. However, my primary duties were generally once the school term had begun.

I tutored 3 small children (ages 3-6) from 2020-2021. We did all the school subjects as well as science experiments. Generally, I would tutor the children once a week for 2 hours. On occasion, it would be more. Originally, I was just a tutor for a brother and sister, but as time went along another child joined us.

I have recently au paired for 2 children, aged 15 (boy) and 12 (girl). My duties included fetching the children from school and helping with homework. However, my primary duty was to help study with/ tutor the boy (15) as he struggles academically at school. He has learning difficulties and therefore concepts need to be repeated some times before he understands. This includes exam preparation, class tests and school projects. I also worked late and watched the children if the parents were busy. Unfortunately I had to leave the job due to my studies becoming too busy- which is why I am looking for a job requiring less hours
