Dear Future Host Family
Hi… My name is Celeste, and I am 30 years old. I am from South Africa. Born and raised in a town called Upington. Finished school in a town called Hartswater. I am currently in Brakpan. My family lives in Hartswater. My mother, Elizabeth is a nanny a part time baker. My stepfather, Andrew, is a truckdriver. My brother, Gerwin works at a supermarket and my sister, Geraldine is in High school. Hartswater is a small agricultural town. I met two of my best friends there. Cameron (My travel buddy) and Celestine (the one who always makes me laugh). Celestine has a daughter named Eunique. Eunique is my goddaughter. I love making friends. I have many and whenever I get the chance to visit them, I do. I have a few other siblings from my father’s side, but I do not see them often and some I have not met yet. The ones I know are Mari-Nay, Byron, Reginald and Kevin. Kevin is policeman. Mari-Nay and Reginald are in High School.
I was an au pair in New Jersey from January 2019 until January 2021. As I mentioned before I am an au pair in the Netherlands now.
I’ve known about the au pair program since I was in High school. I saw an ad in a teen magazine and became interested. After school my interests changed and au pairing took a backseat. I honestly love kids and being around them bring me great joy. I started working at a day care center to gain more experience and I also became a nanny. In 2018 I decided to take the leap and work on becoming an au pair, not just making plans on becoming one.
I really love being an au pair. With my first host family, I was looking after a boy named Jaxson from when he was 9 months old until he was 2 and a half years. I enjoyed being a part of all the milestones he achieved. The family is lovely and always made me feel a part of the family. My duties included: Feeding him, bathing him, changing diapers, taking him for walks or to the park, playing with him, reading to him and putting him down for naps or putting him to bed at night. I would also sing to him and tell him stories. They left the program early and I had to rematch. My second host family was a really nice family too. I felt so at home. They have a 7-year-old boy. His name is Jacob. I helped him with his homework and reading, made him food, tidied up his room and playroom, helped him get dressed, took him to school and picked him up from school. Before becoming an au pair, I was a nanny and also helped out at a day care center. I was a Nanny to a girl named Jevonice. My mother looks after Jevonice now and she has become a big part of our family. I watched her from when she was 6 months old until she was 2 and a half years old. I used to feed her, bathe her, change her diapers, put her to bed and down for naps, play with her, sing to her and teach her new skills. At the day care I looked after kids ages 2-5. I did cleaning, cooking, some admin, read to the kids, put them down for naps and teach the older kids how to write and draw.
I looked after 4 baby girls in the Netherlands. Three of them are a triplet. They were born on the day I flew to the Netherlands, so I looked after them from the very beginning. The oldest one was almost a year old when I started. I changed them, fed them, put them to bed, take them for walks, tidy their rooms and do their laundry. I also do some light housework like tidying the kitchen, vacuuming, cooking etc. The family is great, and I enjoyed living with them. I was in Italy for 3 months, and I lookede after a 7-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. My duties were getting them ready for school, taking them to school, picking them up, preparing lunch and snacks and sometimes getting them ready for bed.
I love working with children.
Yours sincerely
