Dear Host Family,
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
I am already very excited about getting to know you and your children I would have the opportunity to take care of. But, first of all, I would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Zarica F. I am 29 years old Caucasian female, from Northcliff, Johannesburg (close to the NorthWest Christian School, Northcliff High and Cresta) and originally from Durban. I still live with my parents, Ziska (51) and Dylan (53). We have three dogs and a cat, who love to cuddle all day long. I love walking my dogs in Emmerentia park, barefoot in the mud and see how their joy makes everything simple and happy. I've always wanted a bunny as well but realized that they deserve a place thats not a cage. I am a very touch sensitive and oriented person, meaning I learn through different texture and engage with the children I Aupair with in this manner or a manner that they need as well. Teaching them about the world through their sense, is a passion of mine. My mother is a professor in Business and Creativity at UJ and my father is a self starting entrepreneur. My brother is also a mid level teacher in Vanderbijlpark. Childcare runs in our blood. Overall, we are a pretty tight-knit family, with their occasional struggles, but one thing that they taught me is how to appreciate everyone identity, just as they are and I hope to pull that family-centric approach and individuality through doing my job with your family.
I would describe myself as a reliable and caring person, who tries to make the best out of every situation. I like spending time with my friends; they are – as well as my family – very important to me. I’m always there for anyone if they need me; making me attuned to the mental states of the children I take care of.
I have always loved children, evident in my desire to switch to young adult psychology and social work. At the moment, I am employed with a family who's Aupair is on maternity leave and applying towards studying my Honours part-time in June, but still finding a way to attain my psychology degree in the mean time. I hope to find something more stable giving your children and I time to properly make a difference in each other's lives.
I am currently seeking entry into a growth-oriented, creative or traditional family; also dedicated to gaining real-world experience that can contribute to me and the children I take care offs self-development and the expansion of their thought pattern, mental health and growth.
Languages I can speak is English, Afrikaans, and I currently studying Korean through watching their productions and self study.
I hope that you would choose me as your au pair, as I am someone who values the opportunities to fit in and become part of your welcoming family. I am dedicated to putting your children and family first. I am a person who performs my work with great dedication, commitment, and ambition. Consequently, I know how important it is to provide the children with individual attention, and I am happy to spend that time with them. In my opinion, rules are very important in dealing with children. They still have to discover the world, and I think that it is our job as adults to help inspire and instruct their creativity. I have the ability to assert myself, and the safety and well-being of the children will always be my priority. I think varied activities are very important for children as well. I would like to support them by finding what inspires them the most. The que “learning by doing“ is something I aim to incorporate in how I take care of your children. I love children and their condition means a lot to me. I also hope to resolve difficulties that the children may face or are facing without tensions and anger. I inspire to be a mentor and safe person for them whenever you are not available. Even in all kinds of situations, I am patient and cordially. I would appreciate it if you will commit me to your children and I will be aware of my duties and responsibilities as an au pair at all times. I can promise you that your children would be in good hands with me.
Living with me is really easy as I am not a demanding person. I do respect that the house is your house and that I have to follow your house rules. If something works not quite as it should, I prefer to talk instead of ignoring things.
I am really curious to hear all about you and your children. I hope that we can develop a good relationship, working together as a family. I would be very happy to experience an eventful year with you and your kids. I am looking forward to talking to you.
Thank you for reading my letter and kind regards,
Zarica
