Dear Host Family
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
My name is Juané and I’m a 20-year-old (female) who grew up in Mossel Bay, a small town in the Western part of South Africa. I come from a family of 5: My dad, Johan, is a sales manager at Crown International and my stepmom, Carin, is a accountant. I have one sister and one brother. My sister, Sunica, is turing 18 this year and she’s busy with her last year of High School. My brother, Christiaan, is 2 years old and he’s just enjoying life. My first language is Afrikaans and I’m also fluent in English.
I was an Au Pair in The Netherlands from January 2020 untill January 2021. I can definitely say it was the best year of my life. I loved experiencing a new culture, new cuisine, totally different weather and all the cool activities the Netherlands had to offer. It’s always been my biggest dream to travel the world. So that, and the fact that I love children, were the top reasons why I thought an Au Pair year would be perfect for me, and I wasn’t wrong at all.
I’m planning to be an Au Pair in Belgium from 1 June 2021. I thought it would be a good choice to become an Au Pair in Mossel Bay, while I’m here, to earn money before I go to Belgium.
When it comes to leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in life. I enjoy being outdoors, grabbing lunch with some friends, exploring nightlife, hiking in nature, camping, cooking and visiting new places. My two main hobbies are painting and playing ukelele.
When it comes to child care experience, I have looked after children in both formal and informal contexts. I have helped my parents to look after my brother since he was born (for the first year) and I have also babysat children. I was an Au Pair in the Netherlands as well and I took care of a 4-year-old boy, Jack, and a 6-year-old girl, Liz. It’s crazy to me how fast they’ve crawled into my heart.
Some of the activities I did with the kids were; baking, arts and crafts, playing dress up, playing with clay, painting, going to parks, go swimming, folding origami animals for them, built a fort in the house out of boxes and a hut in the forest out of branches, went on picknicks and adventures with them and a lot more. I can comfortably say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children.
I would be happy to have the opportunity to speak with you: to answer any questions you may have about me or my childcare experiences, to learn more about your family, your interests and to know more about what you expect from the Au Pair arrangement.
Thank you very much for your interest in my application!
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours Sincerely
Juané |
