Description of tutoring experience

I would go to kids house once they are home from school. I would then sit with the homework that the school gave them for about an hour or two. I would go at least twice a week or sometimes whole week. Main subjects I would tutor is Maths, English & Afrikaans but is also all depends on what the children needs help with

I would pick up the girl at crèche at about 11:50 then we would go home and I would give her lunch then change her & put her down for a nap, while as the boy come out at 12:45 I would fetch him some days & take him to speech therapy classes or he would stay at school for his baking classes, the days I do fetch him we would come home and have lunch then sit with a bit of work then free play until the sister wakes up

I start @12pm & end @6pm, I would fetch the boys from school we would then come home & have lunch (I prep lunch before I leave to fetch the boys) then have tv time while having lunch, I would then put william to sleep @13:30pm -15:00& charlie would go for his quiet time @2-15:15, both boys would then be up by 15:30 for the lastest, we would then have a snack & then choose we’re we would go which would either be a indoor play area, ice -lolly’s at Vida Cafè, going to different farms, going to different parks, we then also stay home & do some baking (cookies, muffins, jelly etc) or we would swim at home for the afternoon or do some arts & crafts, then we would end our day off @17:30 by having some tv time while mom preps supper, then I would leave @6pm. I would sometimes help out with bath time as well & would prep the supper while the boys were napping so when mom is done with work she can just cook it up.

I've known Alanis ('Lana') since July 2022 and she was employed by our family as our au pair for six months. We were immediately drawn to her easy-going personality, her genuine love for our children and her ability to seamlessly integrate into our family life. Her Early Years Education qualifications were a big bonus too. Alanis proved to be a nurturing, responsible, trustworthy au pair for our two young boys Charlie (4.5 years) and William (2 years, 4 months), who were in her care for several afternoons a week while we were at work & some evenings babysitting too. Being an international family with our own parents living overseas, we came to depend on Alanis as an extension of our family. Her flexibility with our ever-changing schedule was exceptional - nothing was ever a problem; she was our reliable rock for many months and our boys adore her. As well as preparing nutritious snack boxes for school and suppers for our family, Alanis kept the two boys busy & creatively entertained both at home and on outings to parks and play centres, for which she always drove our family car safely and responsibly. Alanis had no problem setting boundaries, keeping to the children's daily routine, managing happy playtimes and occasional sibling conflict with an impressive maturity beyond her years. She confidently took care of naptime, bedtime and school pick-ups, closely supervised safe swimming at home & the boys were always excited for 'Alanis days' when they got to see her. When my work contract ended & we needed fewer childcare hours, we encouraged Alanis to pursue her admirable goal of travelling abroad, working overseas in the States - where we have no doubt she will be a great asset to her host family. When she returns to Cape Town, we wouldn’t hesitate to welcome her back to our family, should the opportunity be there.
