Introduction to families
My first letter to you... words and thoughts I have replayed in my head finally put to paper. First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read my letter. My name is McKayler but you are welcome to call me MC. I would like to become an au pair for the very simple yet profound reason of my passion for children. My happiest place, my utmost peace, my inner calling and my everyday dream is to spend time with a child. I believe the world can only be changed by the upbringing of a child which requires one on one attention. I love listening to the young ones' perspectives, embracing their personality and investing my full time and effort in their development stages. My experience with kids has been the reason I am applying for the au pair life. I started a casual service in my varsity years called "power hour" where I would meet with children to engage in their little world of education, thinking and growth. I would use different games, activities and conversations with them to understand them as well as give them a platform to have a voice and expand their mindsets. The funny thing about my passion for kids is that I often find myself trying to teach them what life is about YET end up having them teach me what life is truly about. Children teach me patience and priorities. I have learnt how to take baby steps and how to listen to understand and not listen to reply. I live by an 8-letter acronym "PPHHEERR" as my basic values- Perspective, passion, honour, humility, effort, empathy, response and most importantly respect. God is important to me and I do the following consistently to keep him as the foundation of my life- praying, reading my bible and attending church or listening to an online sermon. Family dynamics is also important to me- which brings me to what excites me most of living with a host family. I look forward to adapting to a new home, new family and new personalities. I look forward to learning about your culture, values and how you live life. I am most excited to share meals and conversations at the dinner table and spend solid quality time with your kids. Trust is also a big strength of mine- I have integrity, honesty and transparency- you will never fear addressing me about any concerns as I am open to correction. I am a hard worker and even better when I’m working on what I love. There is so much to talk about and I am sure a year with you will be sufficient time to get to know one another. For now, I would just like to say to the host parents, your initiative to find an au pair is already the first step of confidence I have in you as your Children’s well-being is important to you and that is amazing! To the host kids, I don’t know you and you don’t know me, but I am ready to meet you and do whatever it takes to make every day special with you because as Olaf from Frozen once said, “Some people are worth melting for. ” Lastly, thank you for making my dream possible.
I have au paired in Los Angeles for 2 years and 6 months. I adore children and give my best in this career as its my passion. I am extremely patient and flexible with home dynamics and assisting in raising children. I love to entertain children, keep their minds creative, bodies active and spirit engaged. I am trustworthy, reliable, honest and full of integrity. This is the job and lifestyle I thrive in most and its simply because I step into a child's world with a lot of grace, empathy and passion.
