Introduction to families
Dear Family I am an experienced teacher, tutor and au pair, with experience from babies to early high-school. I completed a teaching qualification last year, and lived in London where I was teaching, and more recently doing care for the elderly. I am kind, patient, curious and calm. I love to play, but can be serious should it be called for. I am a good communicator and can take initiative if needed. I am responsible, and encourage children to take responsibility for themselves, too, in order to develop into independent and capable human beings ready to take on the world! As much fun as I have every day with the children under my care, know that I undertake the huge responsibility of childcare with the respect it deserves. *I am fully vaccinated, and have a first aid qualification and practical experience.
As a more mature au pair, I have some life experience, and plenty of common sense that it takes to navigate dynamic family situations. I was with my last family for two years (who I found on this website), and am still in touch with the children regularly. Every day I strive to find a balance between (home) work and play! I am very creative and love sharing adventures and planning activities. I adore pets and am a strong swimmer. Keeping communication channels open with parents is really important to me, as is setting healthy boundaries with the children. I'm a responsible, careful driver and have had my license since I was 18, so 13 years. I've had live-in experience, and have had the responsibility of full-time child care while both parents were away.
I love art, animals, and reading. Recently, sewing has become a new interest. I like to be part of the action, and also play quietly while the kids lead a game and tell me what's going on in their imagination. I love crafty activities and going on outings together. During school holidays I love to plan activities and outings in collaboration with the children so that everyone has something they can enjoy.

two boys, age 7
Each day, I do homework with the twins, we play games together, I bathe them and prepare dinner, then read to them while they eat. I implemented this routine of eating at the table and reading while eating. Beyond this, I've exposed the boys to many new experiences, such as meeting pets, which they were terrified of before. I cut their hair at the beginning of every school term, and have liaised with their OT and Speech Therapists to keep up to date on their exercises.
