Description of tutoring experience

I have helped tutor school kids ranging from grade 5 to grade 8 with their homework. I am also a qualified TEFL teacher and I have experience working as a foreign language teacher in Thailand where I taught English to high school students. I have experience as a nursery school teacher, where I taught the 2 year-olds and 3 year-olds. Why I would make the perfect au pair

I have a genuine passion and dedication to working with and caring for children/teens, which has been hugely rewarding for me in my previous experiences of teaching and tutoring. Working with children/teens is a job that I take seriously and I put a lot of care and effort into being sensitive to each child's individual needs. I am a big believer in using positive reinforcement and inductive reasoning when I work with children in a caring position. I try my utmost best to be an example to children/teens and I practice what I preach. I am an extremely patient person and I am not the one to lose my temper. I look to genuinely connect with people, which is why I am especially drawn to a career of caring for children. It is my aspiration to become a child psychologist someday. I am currently completing a part-time PGCE in Foundation Phase at Cornerstone Institute and I find the Educational Psychology module by far the most fascinating. I have already achieved my BA degree from Rhodes University where I majored in Psychology. I was and still, am especially interested in Early Developmental Psychology.

Hobbies and other interests

I studied Psychology at University, a field of study that still fascinates me greatly, which I enjoy reading up on and keeping updated. I also studied Journalism, and I have a passion for reading, literature, and writing. I love fitness and I live for my daily run or cycle. I believe in being active as it's an integral part of living a life that is in balance and in harmony. I would happily go for a run, cycle or get involved in any sport your child is interested in and help develop their skills.

I worked as a live-in au pair when their mom was away on business, which would sometimes be up to 3 nights during the week. I was responsible for all caring duties for the children, which included waking them up, getting them ready for school, packing lunches and driving them to school. I was responsible for fetching them from school, making lunches, doing homework with them, transporting them to their extra murals in the afternoon, fetching them. I would then get supper ready for them, bathtime, then bedtime. So basically, I was in charge of all their needs when their mother was away on business. When the mother was back, I would be responsible for fetching the kids from school, transporting them to extra murals and helping them with their homework.
