Introduction to families
Since 2023, employed as a LIVE-In Educational AuPair with a family in Hyde Park In 2022, I was a homeschool private tutor: UCT Online High school - grade 8 boy and girl. I worked with a German boy grade 9, who relocated back to SA in March 2022 - tutoring in the late afternoons and some weekends from St David's helping him transition well. Worked in a English/Zulu family - short term due to relocation (ages 6, 10 and 14) as an Educational AuPair in a Live-IN capacity (April - November 2021). In 2020, worked with an American-Italian family, children aged: 7 months, 3 years (Special needs: DS and SASL) and 7 years old. Worked as a private tutor to children, ages ranging between 7 to 17 in 2019. A linguist by qualification from Wits (Alumna). Worked as a French-English assistant teacher, pre-primary level (5-6 years old) for 3 years (2014-2017), at the French International School: Lycée Jules Verne. Worked with families of Deaf babies (0-3) in the Wits Centre for Deaf Studies. Worked at the Wits Writing Centre, reference below. October 10, 2018 Reference for Ms Busi N Ms. Busi N was a Wits Writing Centre Consultant for several years. Busi volunteered to assist in various workshops, taught groups of high school children on the Targeting Talent Programme (TTP) and in her one-to-one consultations pioneered support work for a severely disabled young woman and a deaf woman who discussed her work through sign language. Busi was easily our youngest consultant and it is abnormal for us to hire undergraduates. Busi, however, is an extraordinary young woman, who immediately distinguished herself by her engagement, conscientiousness and integrity. She was also extremely organised and had no trouble at all working alongside her PhD colleagues. In fact, Busi became one of the most capable and responsible members of the writing centre team. Busi is also a dedicated, careful, highly organised and enthusiastic teacher. I know that her grandmother was a teacher, and that Busi had a close relationship with her grandmother and consequently developed a great love and respect for the teaching profession. Busi’s classroom in the TTP was always carefully prepared and controlled, and the children looked awake and happy. I suspect that lessons from her grandmother were evident in that care and preparation. As is evident from the above, I recommend Busi very highly as a conscientious, hard working and able colleague. Busi loves children and makes them feel safe by creating safe, organised spaces. She also has great patience and shows great responsibility for children in her care. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further information. Prof. Pamela Nichols PhD Head: Writing and Learning, CLTD Director: Wits Writing Centre University of the Witwatersrand
