Introduction to families

"Dear Family" message

Hi there, my name is Jasmin but my nickname is Jazz. I have been working with children for around 10 years. Although I have experience as a general manager for a company. I am always happiest coaching or teaching children. I taught English as a foreign language in China for a year (ages 4 to 18) and loved every minute. I currently coach rock-climbing to children aged 5 to 18 but I would like something more permanent. For this reason, I would like to make a career change to education. I think that caring for or teaching children is one of the highest professions. In teaching and caring for children, we shape them to become good people and therefore make the world a better place. I hope to get a part-time job as an au pair so that I can study through UNISA and get my teaching degree.

Why I would make the perfect au pair

I would make the perfect au pair because I like to meet children at their level, whether it's being goofy and entertaining or playing imaginative games, whatever it is I am there and fully engaged (for example if we were at the beach I would be happy to get full of sand helping to make sand castles). To offset this very child-like part of me I am also firm and like to have structure and boundaries in place as this creates an environment that children feel safe in. These are qualities that I gained from my teaching and coaching experience. I am also a nature-loving, art enthusiast therefore I enjoy facilitating outdoor activities and arts and crafts.
