Introduction to families
Dear Family I have always had a passion for shaping young minds from birth to high school; I began tutoring in high school myself, followed by work in a toy store for product knowledge and finally as an Au pair and Governess for 10 years. I have chosen this career for the rewarding aspects experienced daily, and intend furthering my education within the sector to remain relevant. I do however hold a BSSc which I use to be the best at my daily task; Sociology has taught me to understand parents and societal expectations and Norms; and the importance of my role as an educator and care giver. Education is extremely important to me, as I have had the benefit of studying Child and Youth Development for 3 years, opting for completion in Sociology and environmental science instead. This allows me to have academic knowledge of your child's developmental needs and experience in the field, further allowing for a healthy developmental, psychological and intellectual development to take place, with the addition of reward systems to motivate success. I am currently working towards continuing my studies by means of paying off student loans to eventually proceed into honors and masters, or a new degree within the education sector.
I have worked as an au pair and tutor for many years and I find that I am suited for the role because of my ability to emotionally connect with the children I work with. This way, I am able to provide strong emotional support, care and educationally driven activities. Additionally, I hold strong family values and view my job as an extension of the family I work with, an older sister. I am further able to assist with shopping and cooking for household as I understand the difficulties of being a working parent through professional experience.
In my spare time, I enjoy creative writing, reading and motor vehicle mechanics. As such the English language is a passion of mine, which will be extended to the speech development of your child. I spend majority of my time involved in historical research and alternative medicine as part of 'Medical Sociology' continued into personal interest, aimed at enriching my personal knowledge and understanding of various cultures.

Karmen was a nanny for my toddler who was 15 months old when Karmen started with us. She was responsible for our toddler from 7h30 until 15h30 monday to friday. She gave my toddler the food that we provided (snacks, lunch, water and milk). She changed our toddlers diapers. She played with our toddler, took her for walks and to the park within our estate, prepared and did ECD activities with our toddler (including baking, sensory play and reading). She tidied/cleaned after activities and washed our toddler's dishes and utensils. From September 2020 to December 2020 she also facilitated online montessori school with our toddler, which was incredibly difficult, but she managed it well. The above were her official roles, but she often went above and beyond, by creating colour posters to encourage learning and also often did additional tidying and cleaning (e.g. washing all the dishes/tidying the kitchen, sweeping/vacuuming and mopping the floors, hanging up and folding laundry). She took initiative and was extremely diligent, punctual and hard-working. She had an excellent attitude to her care for our toddler and was professional and diligent. In addition she was extremely loving and took lots of photo's and videos, which she shared with us throughout the day to keep us updated with all they were doing. Karmen also worked with us during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic and we were extremely paranoid about the virus etc, however Karmen was extremely respectful of our concerns and diligently wore a mask at work everyday. Karmen has more initiative than most individuals. When she has a connection with a child (as she did with ours), she goes above and beyond to decorate the room with educational, hand-made posters (which she changed every month). She also organised our toddler's room in a way that was more child-friendly. As I said above, she would also help out with household cleaning even though these were not tasks we asked or expected her to do.
