Introduction to families
Dear prospective family, My name is Tyne and I am 25 years old. I am currently a second year PhD candidate at the University of Pretoria, specialising in International Relations and Security. My thesis deals directly with children, and I consider it to be an area that brings me great joy. In addition to this, I am also a researcher at the Centre for Mediation in Africa, where my duties consist of building online curriculums, conducting research for various projects, data coding and supervising students at the Honours and Masters level. Growing up, I have always enjoyed giving back my time to others in any way I could, especially with regards to helping children and young adults. At present, I am looking for work whilst I complete my PhD, as my days mainly consist of research and writing from home. Au pair services truly benefitted me and my family while I was still young. I am looking forward to making the same difference, albeit a small one, for you and your family.
I believe I would make the perfect au pair, due to the fact that my ability to stay organized and disciplined, while still being adaptable to situations, makes me a strong candidate for dealing with children of all ages. On top of that, I believe that my patience, empathy, and carefree nature enable me to take the time needed to get to know children and to manage the day-to-day activities that come along with their care. On a practical level, my ability to cook, drive, and help children with their homework also makes me an asset.
My hobbies and interests are truly a product of how I am feeling and who I am surrounded by. At times, all I look to doing in my spare time is getting out into nature and keeping active in any way I can. This can include going on hikes, taking a Pilates or Yoga class, swimming, or playing tennis. At other times, my mind moves towards activities that help me slow down and enjoy the free moments I have. When this happens, I love to play the piano, read a book that has been sitting on my shelf, take photos, or bake a yummy treat. At the base of any hobby or activity that I do, are the special people in my life. I believe that spending time with family and friends, as well as my loving pets, is incredibly important. After all, these are the moments that we should cherish most.

Infants to 18 years old.
While living in Nouakchott Mauritania, I volunteered at the Madame Doudou Children's Orphanage. My main childcare tasks included providing food and supplies for the children, teaching them how to read and speak basic French and English, raising funds to help provide them with overall hygiene and a new roof. I also helped organise a fund raiser through the American International School of Nouakchott to help with general maintenance and medical funds required.
