I want to become an Au Pair because I get the opportunity to work with children, see them grow and help them realize their true full potential. That may be the most rewarding process throughout all of this. I get to do something I enjoy, have passion for and knowing I make a difference in someone else's life. I get to explore new cultures, new language barriers, new people and get a glimps into others life's that can teach me so much about the woman/parent I strive to become one day. Being an Au Pair gives me the opportunity to become more responsible, independable, stronger, disciplined and not only deal with my emotions but someone else's, teaching them what I have learned through life and helping them up when they fall, motivating them when they break and comfort them with love and kindness. Living with a host family give me so many new challenges, and who doesn't love a good challenge. Coming out I know I would step out with so many new skills from leadership, flexibility, adaptability, organisation, problem solving, time management and so much more. I know doing this and looking back one day I wouldn't regret one single thing and that makes me even more excited about this whole new lifestyle I'm signing myself up to. Richard Paul once said that raising and caring for children requires sacrifice and service which I believe heals us from the destructive forces of self-centeredness. Children do not only need guidance in their life, but they can guide us, teach us. While we teach them moral values, creativity, curiosity and friendliness, we should take a step back and observe, that way we can discover those same lessons again and get back in touch with our inner child. Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work. The thing I most love about kids is their innocents. They don't really care who you are or where you're from as long as you show them love. I realized that the 2 most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. Love includes friends and family, your calling, and intimate relationships. But it also includes everything else you love and all your encounters with others. It includes those things you enjoy doing, the stories you grew up with, and the kind interactions with strangers that remind you of the love that exists in the world. I might not be someone's first choice, but I am a great choice. I don't pretend to be someone I'm not, because I'm good at being me. I might not be proud of some of the things I've done in the past, but I'm proud of who I am today. I may not be perfect, but I don't need to be. I am the way God made me. God is my strength when I am weak, the rock on which I stand and the strong tower I run to |
