I have tutored in English and Mathematics for grade R to grade 5. I have also tutored special needs Children when I volunteered at a Non - Profit. I do more than babysit and even though I have no teaching qualifications I have experience in teaching in foundation phase. In my previous job I spent most of the day teaching alphabets, reading, writing and identifying through books, sound and language. I'm very creative with my teaching methods, which include learning the alphabets through different varieties of words. For example, teaching about birds alphabetically or parts of a car, or things in the kitchen, etc. I do not incorporate television into teaching because I strongly oppose television as a means to learning, I feel it's not interactive. I feel it is important to teach your children to be conversational and to be able to identify most things before they begin school so they can communicate and understand it better. Reading, writing and art is instrumental.

Introduction to families
Dear Family I am an extensively experienced Child Care provider. I have more than 7 years of childcare experience in ages 0 to 12 year range. I've Aupaired in the USA as well as South Africa. I am well organized, responsible and confident in my abilities. I am proficient in English and love to develop friendly relationships and credibility with parents and educating children through books and activities. In recent years I've worked in special needs Care, particularly in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorder. This has enabled be to grow in patience and understanding. I've worked under Autism Partnership Hong Kong who deal with ABA Therapy and have also worked under the guidance and supervision of Dr Nola Chambers, a Speech Therapist. I love to cook and it's important to me to incorporate healthy foods into a child's diet. I assist in toilet training, developing good eating habits, resting and educational stimulation.
I love children most importantly and my previous employers can attest to the fact that it's not just a job for me. I've recently found out that I have extreme patience, something I thought I didn't have much of. Working with Special needs kids has brought out skills in me I didn't know I possessed. I develop long lasting, trusting relationships and incorporate so much more than basic childcare. I have recent experience in Autism Spectrum disorder and have worked closely with Professionals of the field. I would love to explain it in more detail during an interview.
I love reading. I consider myself a bibliophile and I always have a book on my person. The outdoors is where I spend a lot of my time, anything from sports to cycling and even a picnic in my backyard. I am a huge Lego fan, I've always had a knack for structure building. When I'm not spending quality time with my family I'm always writing my own set of fictional stories which I hope to publish some day.

Rachel goes above and beyond in her role as an au pair – it is clear she is not just ‘doing a job’ but genuinely cares about what she is doing and the people she is around. We are so grateful for the amazing influence she has been on our son, in his formative years. We have found Rachel to be reliable, trustworthy, punctual and diligent. Rachel has also shown herself to be someone who takes initiative, is pro-active in making good suggestions and looks for opportunities to further her life experience and education – for example, by working overseas as an au pair prior to working for us. For the last year, Rachel has also been studying part time and has done an excellent job in balancing her job with us, her own family responsibilities and the demands of her course, as evidenced by her passes with distinction in her recent exams. We have every confidence that she will continue to excel in her further studies and in her future career. Rachel is leaving her employment with us as she is relocating. We recommend her without reservation and the family that employs her will be very blessed to have her in their lives!
