Introduction to families
Dear Family! I am an English and Psychology major at Stellenbosch University with a great love for children. I love being around children mainly to help them harness the skills they are blessed with and to help them hone in on new skills that they develop as they grow. I plan to study Child Psychology at a clinical doctoral level one day as I care so much about the little people who are the greats of tomorrow.
My patience with children is what helps me most when interacting with them. I enjoy creating activities for us to do together such as arts and crafts, finding new books to read, playing soccer together, swimming or jumping on the trampoline. I care for the way that children express themselves as it can be quite hard when you’re little and it feels as though you aren’t heard, so I love helping them learn ways to positively communicate their feelings. This is particularly important for children who are on the spectrum who might find it emotionally taxing for them to adequately communicate their feelings. I usually like to help them feel that they’re in a safe space and help them find ways to better express themselves when they feel distressed.
I love reading all kinds of novels from French to English. I write occasionally when I have the creative bug and I enjoy long distance running.

9 year old boy, 12 year old girl and a 4 year old boy
I started with the Toerien’s when their eldest was about 6/7 years old. I was a live in au-pair when it was my school holidays and I would do arts and crafts activities with the children. We would do gingerbread houses at Christmas time, and outside activities such as playing soccer or swimming. I served the children their dinners, did their bath and bed times. And I would occasionally pack their lunches for school for the following day.

2 year old girl and a 1 year old boy
I started with the Metcalfs before their daughter was 2 and their son was still a younger baby maybe a few months old. I would assist them at children’s parties and mind the children while they played and in the evenings I’d do wind down and then bedtime for the Metcalf children.

I’ve been Mabongi’s au pair since her daughter was 4 years old. I serve her breakfasts and lunches when she’s in my care mainly for the school holidays as her parents work full time. And occasionally in the evening I do her wind down times.
