Introduction to families
Dear Family, I am a 32 yr old Psychology Honours student, who is currently working as an au pair in the afternoons in Sandton. I am taking child psychology as a subject and being able to work with children on a daily basis really broadens my understanding of what I'm learning and provides me with a first hand experience of how children think and develop. My goal is to become a child psychologist so Au pairing really is the perfect job for me while I study.
I know I'd make a great au pair as I love working with children. I have previous working experience in this role, as I have au paired before and I am currently employed as an au pair. I have worked at a nursery school and recently worked at a company who provide an exercise program as an extra mural to both nursery and prep schools. I am very creative and enjoy coming up with fun activities to keep children occupied. I'm easy to get along and good with getting homework and other important tasks completed. I have a lot of patience and I take the time to get to get to know and understand each child I meet and look after. I am stern with children and strict with manners, but I leave all formal discipline up to their parents. I am organised, punctual and I believe that I would be a great addition to any family that hires me.
I enjoy gyming and running and take part in the different parkruns that occur every Saturday across South Africa. I enjoy being creative, so I like to do beading and abit of sewing when I get the chance. I love animals so my dogs get walked daily and we play a lot of frisbee. Most of my free time is spent with family, studying, playing with my dogs, exercising or seeing friends or reading.

I look after two boys. My role includes collecting the children from school or extra murals and taking them home. I do homework with them, make sure their bags are packed for the next day, set out their uniforms and sports kits, make sure they shower and then prepare their dinner. I also do most of the grocery shopping, run errands, on occasion prepare meals for the whole family, and help out when family members or guests visit. I am available to stay over on weekdays or weekends when their parents are away and then I usually make sure the children are up the next morning, sort breakfast, get them ready for school and complete the morning drop off. I prepare extra Mathematics and English work for the younger son to keep him ahead of the other children and prepare him for the years to come. I assist in test preparation and assist with school speeches and projects. I do extra reading and ensure all musical instruments are practiced daily. My schedule is very full but I really enjoy my

Nicole has been working as an aupair for us for just over 2 years and is very much part of the family. My husband and I due have hectic work and travel schedules and she has been a real God sent to us. She helps with school picks and sorts out the homework and runs errands and does our groceries as well. We asked her to prep our younger child with extra English and Maths and she ensures and it gets done along with all the sports and music commitments our son has. There have been ocassions that both my husband and I have had to travel and she has stayed overnight to ensure our son went to school the next morning on time and picked him up at the end of the day. She is very reliable, hardworking, honest and always happy to help out. We couldn't be more happier for having chosen Nicole as our Aupair.

My working hours were 12h00-18h00 Monday-Friday. I would drive to the child's house, pack her lunch and grab her prepacked gym bag, collect the family car. I'd then drive to collect the girl from school and make sure she ate her lunch and got dressed for gymnastics. I'd take her to gym and do some homework while we waited for her class to start. I'd watch the class and afterwards take the girl home. From there I'd make sure the little was bathed and then we'd finish any homework that wasn't completed and I'd pack her school, gym and lunch bag for the next day. Her school uniform and shoes were laid out and ready for the next day. If everything was completed before home time, we would play a quick game of UNO or complete a puzzle or make up a fun gamers to play. Friday's were her day off from gym, so I'd usually collect her from school and we'd go out for lunch as a treat and either have an outing or play games at home before getting everything ready for Monday again.
