Introduction to families
Dear Family, I am a 29 yr old Psychology Honours student, who is currently working as a Project Administrator in Sandton. I am interested in changing career paths this year, as I'd like to get back to working with children, as I am taking child psychology as a subject. If I am working towards becoming a child psychologist, it makes sense to get a job where I am actively involved in children's lives. I have recently been offered a part-time morning job, where i would be teaching exercises to little children at schools. I'd be working with children aged 3-9yrs old. As mentioned, this will be a morning job, so I am now looking to find an afternoon job to cover my expenses while I train up over the next year and become a full time staff member at the new company.
I think I'd make a great au pair as I love working with children. I have previous working experience in this role, as I have au paired before and I have worked at a nursery school. I am very creative and enjoy coming up with fun activities to keep children occupied. I'm easy to get along and good with getting homework and other important tasks completed. I have a lot of patience and I take the time to get to get to know and understand each child I meet and look after. I am stern with children and strict with manners, but I leave all formal discipline up to their parents. I am organised, punctual and I believe that I would be a great addition to any family that hires me.
I enjoy running and take part in the different parkruns that occur every Saturday across South Africa. I enjoy being creative, so I like to do beading and abit of sewing when I get the chance. I love animals so my dogs get walked daily and we play a lot of frisbee. Most of my free time is spent with family, studying, playing with my dogs, exercising or seeing friends or reading.

My working hours were 12h00-18h00 Monday-Friday. I would drive to the child's house, pack her lunch and grab her prepacked gym bag, collect the family car. I'd then drive to collect the girl from school and make sure she ate her lunch and got dressed for gymnastics. I'd take her to gym and do some homework while we waited for her class to start. I'd watch the class and afterwards take the girl home. From there I'd make sure the little was bathed and then we'd finish any homework that wasn't completed and I'd pack her school, gym and lunch bag for the next day. Her school uniform and shoes were laid out and ready for the next day. If everything was completed before home time, we would play a quick game of UNO or complete a puzzle or make up a fun gamers to play. Friday's were her day off from gym, so I'd usually collect her from school and we'd go out for lunch as a treat and either have an outing or play games at home before getting everything ready for Monday again.
