Introduction to families
Dear Family, My name is Morkel V and I've always been very passionate about children and helping them wherever I can. I was born in Stellenbosch and here I am 21 years later, still in the lovely Stellies. I am getting my degree in BSc Human Life Sciences and Psychology at the end of 2025 and I am hoping to do honours in Psychology in 2026, to eventually then pursue a career within this field, specifically guiding children through life's challenges. Through my three years of studying at Stellenbosch University I definitively discovered my calling in life- studying child psychology and helping children. Thus, I feel as though au pairing would be a perfect fit for me in the next phase of my life.
I believe I would make the perfect au pair because of my deep passion for working with children, paired with my patient and well-rounded nature. Since 2024, I have been involved at InVia, first as a volunteer supporting children from diverse backgrounds by helping them discover joy, hope, and confidence. In 2025, I continued this journey by becoming a Sunday school teacher, where I still work every week, guiding children through activities such as reading, drawing, and creative learning. These experiences have brought me immense fulfilment and strengthened my ability to support children emotionally, educationally, and socially. Additionally, my strong academic and sporting background makes me an excellent tutor for families seeking both educational assistance and active engagement. Currently studying psychology, with the ambition to pursue an honours in child psychology in 2026, I have gained valuable insight into child development and behaviour- knowledge I am excited to continue growing and bringing into my caregiving. I would be honoured to support a family with compassion, enthusiasm, and dedication.
Beyond my love for psychology and childcare, I am deeply passionate about science- especially human life sciences and genetics. While I once strongly considered pursuing mathematics or physics, I ultimately chose to study human life sciences with psychology, as it perfectly blends my curiosity about the human body with my desire to understand the mind. I have also always had a keen interest in languages, which led me to take German as an additional language in high school. Although I have not travelled abroad yet, I am adventurous at heart and hope to explore the world once I complete my studies. Outside of academics, tennis has been a lifelong passion; I have played since childhood and still enjoy playing regularly, as well as watching professional tennis. I also love unwinding through movies of all genres and listening to music, which continues to inspire and bring balance to my life.

It is a pleasure to recommend Morkel for an au pair position. I have known him since he was a young boy, and I have watched him grow into a mature, reliable, and compassionate young man. As a teenager he was actively involved in our youth camps, always showing responsibility and kindness. He now teaches Sunday school for young children, and he approaches this role with great care, creativity, and commitment. Morkel is very gentle, patient, trustworthy and kind —qualities that make him exceptionally well-suited for working with children. He is exceptionally smart, learns quickly, and brings a calm presence and quiet confidence that reassures both children and adults. His soft heart and gentle manner make him approachable, and his ability to stay calm under pressure is one of his greatest strengths. Any family would be fortunate to have Morkel as their au pair. I recommend him with complete confidence.
