Introduction to families
Hi, my name is Ashleigh. I hold a BCom degree and recently completed my PGCE in Foundation Phase Education. Working with children has always been my passion—I've been the go-to babysitter for my extended family and friends for as long as I can remember. After completing my Matric, I was uncertain about my career path, so I pursued a BCom degree. However, I soon realized that my true calling was in education. After saving up, I enrolled in a teaching degree at Cornerstone. For the past two and a half years, I have been a Grade 1 teacher at a small private school in Randpark Ridge, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Now, I am looking to expand my skills and explore new opportunities, either as an Au Pair or a homeschool teacher.
I am deeply passionate about working with children. My experience includes working at a homework center, where I assisted students aged 7 to 17 with their homework, studying, and school assignments. In January 2023, I became a Grade 1 teacher at a small school with a class size of no more than eight students. I have thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity, but I am now eager to seek new experiences that will allow me to expand and further develop my career in childcare.
I have a passion for music, animals, and traveling. I studied piano during my childhood and hope to revisit this passion in the near future. Growing up in a household surrounded by animals—dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, birds, and fish—has fostered my love for them. I’ve also been fortunate to do some traveling, having visited several States in the USA, as well as Mauritius, Italy, and Croatia.
