Description of tutoring experience
I have an Intermediate phase (grade 4-6) teaching degree. during my studies I have worked at schools where I presented lessons and also did co- teaching alongside my mentor teacher. I also provided one- on-one assistance to learners who required it during school hours as well as after school where I helped out with group and one- on- one "extra classes". This entailed me explaining the subject content to learners: starting from the basics and then moving to a more in depth explanation. I also helped out at a pre-school in the afternoons were I looked after the kids, ensuring they eat lunch, takes naps and playing with them as well as ensuring they are playing safely. I also have experience helping kids between the ages of 8 to 15 with homework- overseeing that they do their homework, helping/ explaining their homework to them, preparing and assisting with school projects.

Introduction to families
"Dear Family" message
Dear Family. My name is Cheney B and I have just finished my studies where I studied education, grade 4-6, but also helped out at grades 2 and 3, I also took extra psychology classes and modules with my studies as that is a great interest of mine. I grew up and still live in Randhart, Alberton with my parents and brother, who has just finished matric, as well as with my 2 dogs who are my babies :) I am looking for an au pairing position, because I have a passion and love for working with children. My goal with working with children is to create a safe space where they feel loved and cared for. I want to foster within them that education and learning is fun and it is an environment to make mistakes, learn and grow.
Why I would make the perfect au pair
I feel that I would be a great au pair, because I have a genuine interest when it comes to working with children, I am caring and extremely patient. I have the ability to easily connect with them. I am able to encourage children to work hard and complete homework as well as have fun and play. I am energetic and like to do different types of activities. I am responsible and organised, which makes me reliable. I have studied teaching and did my practicals at schools, so I can offer academic support. I am aware of how schools work and what they expect of learners. I have experience on both sides, being the teacher: studying the CAPS to see what exactly the learners need to learn and know, planning lessons, I have marked books and tests, so I know what is expected of learners when it comes to that. I also have experience working one on one with children and in groups, so I have the ability to recognise possible struggle areas and can work on solutions to help better those areas. I enjoy spending time outside and enjoy participating or watching any sport or other activities. As mentioned, I am extremely responsible and take safety seriously.
Hobbies and other interests
- Sport: Swimming (I swam competitively for about 18 years), netball (played for 12 years), tennis (played for 2 years), cross country (competed for 3 years). - I enjoy watching and playing any sports, but I mainly watch and/ or play the following sports with friends and family for fun: - rugby, cricket, golf, tennis, swim, netball, hockey, basketball, soccer, padel and Formula 1. - I enjoy reading fiction books in my free time. - I enjoy baking, especially: cup cakes, scones, cakes, flapjacks, waffles, pancakes, banana bread. - I like to do DIY projects or different types of arts and crafts. - Travelling is one of my interests, since I have visited the UK and Ireland in 2019, I want to travel all around the world one day. - I like to spend time with friends and family by going: - camping - fishing - playing padel - laser tag - go carting - theme parks - bowling - going to the movies - ice skating - eating out at restaurants - going to markets - pottery painting - visiting museums
