Introduction to families
"Dear Family" message
Family life Dear future host family, I hope you are in good health and high spirits. My name is Katlego M (Kat, KATE, or Katty) and I am a girl from South Africa 🇿🇦 who has recently completed a higher certificate in early childhood development. I am writing to express my interest in becoming an au pair and joining your family as a caring and responsible caregiver for your children. There are several reasons why I am drawn to the opportunity of being an au pair. First and foremost, I genuinely enjoy being around children and find it rewarding to contribute to their growth and development. As the eldest sister in my family, I have had the privilege of looking after my four siblings like a second mother. This experience has allowed me to develop a deep bond with them and gain valuable insights into the needs and joys of childhood. Furthermore, growing up in a multicultural environment has instilled in me a sense of curiosity and appreciation for different cultures and languages. I believe that being an au pair would provide me with an excellent opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, learn from your family, and share my own South African traditions. I am passionate about fostering understanding and building bridges between people from diverse backgrounds, and being an au pair would allow me to do just that. In addition to my familial experiences, I have also had the privilege of working as an au pair for a very lovely family. During this period, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of what an au pair is and what is expected of me, improve my child care skills, and develop independence and adaptability. These experiences have equipped me with the necessary skills to navigate new environments and handle the challenges that may arise while living with my host family. I firmly believe that I am the right person to join your family as an au pair. I am responsible, reliable, and committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for your children. I possess strong communication skills and am adept at interacting with children of various age groups. Furthermore, I am patient, compassionate, and able to handle difficult situations with empathy and understanding. I am excited about the possibility of becoming a part of your family and contributing to the well-being and happiness of your children. I am confident that my love for children, my experience as a sister, my multicultural background, and my previous exposure to working as an au pair make me well-suited for this role. Thank you for considering my application. I would be delighted to further discuss my qualifications and answer any questions you may have during an interview. I look forward to the possibility of joining your family as an au pair and embarking on this enriching journey together
Why I would make the perfect au pair
I would make the perfect Au Pair as I'm currently employed as an au pair meaning there would be no reason to panick as I'm already used to the day to day routine and tasks that need to be completed on a day to day. Bellow is a draft of my day to day duties as an au pair: -Collect Children from school in the afternoon. -Take the children to extra mural activities and appointments. -Assist the children with their homework. -Play games with the children/including puzzles and other crafts. -Prepare light meals and snacks. -Run errands. -Accompany children to any playdates/Birthday parties and watch over them. -Help tidy children’s bedrooms and playhouse. -Keep toys organized and occasionally clean these when necessary. -Take children out on walks/park etc. -Put together a formal plan for activities to be conducted during school holiday programs. -Run holiday activity programs with the children I grew up in a house hold where I'm the first born daughter of a family of eight which consists of 7 girls and 1 boy, my hands where always and still are full as I've learnt to take care of my siblings as my mother was a single mother and always working so I fell in love with communicating with them as I've watched them grow from toddlers to teenagers which at first was overwhelming but I learnt to take it one step at a time as I've raised my siblings as if they where my own little princesses, from attending parent teacher meetings, to extra curriculum, picking them up from school and even becoming their tutor at home with their studies.
