Description of tutoring experience

I have been a tutor since I was in high school. As I was the Dux Scholar of my Matric Year 2018. I administered tutoring lessons to children of different age groups. I have spent most lessons tutoring subjects such as English, Mathematics and Life Sciences for older children. However, I have also tutored more than 10 foundation phased scholars in subjects such as Life skills, Economics, Management and Sciences, Natural Science and Creative Arts. Currently I do online classes for a grade 3, 6, and 9 year learners. I prepare my own worksheets for critical thinkers but, work mostly with the curriculum of the school. (CAPS or IEB).

My name is Britney Thurston, I am 22 years old. I grew up in a small city called Pietermaritzburg. I graduated at 20 years old with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and Environmental Management, however I soon realised that my passion for learning and teaching was one that I needed to explore more. Nevertheless I began my aupairing and tutoring journey which I took an extreme liking to. I have had the opportunity of being a part of many families and taken care of many delightful children and babies. I look forward to getting to know you more.

Why I would make the perfect au pair

I am an active and creative person who is always motivated and willing to help. I intend to help out to the best of my ability. My host family will be able to trust me as I am an honest and humble young lady with respect and values. I am easily adaptable to any situation. In every situation I am patient and cordially. One of the reasons I would make a good aupair, is that I am capable of doing anything that is asked of me. I have great cooking skills, teaching skills as well as learning skills. I am gentle but know how to maintain discipline.

Britney is a wonderful young lady and she has been a tremendous help to me especially during the covid period. As a single mother I was working late due to the pressurized job I have. Britney assisted me Tia's meal prep for school lunches and sometimes dinner. Britney is good with children and is very patient and would even go over and above what was expected of her. During the covid period she assisted Tia to learn 7virtually in order that she does not miss out on her crucial Grade 7 year. She also help with Virtual tutoring when Tia ran into some difficulty in her Grade 8 year with her Maths and science.
