Introduction to families
"Dear Family" message
Hi My name is Nicole, I Au paired in Hamburg, Germany for 6 months, so I do have experience. My main dream/goal is to complete my PhD in psychology. That has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I am already enrolled to university to make my dream a reality. In the meantime, I want to make use of my time in a meaningful way. What better way than helping families out? I am a very adventurous person. I like to go out and see new things, experience new things and meet new people. I have travelled before on my own and with my best friends. I have recently been to Plettenberg Bay in South Africa where I have learned so many new things and met so many people from across the world. So far the best travel vacation I experienced. There are a couple of things that I like to do for fun. I do these activities on a weekly basis. I love to bake. I have been baking for fun since COVID came around and I couldn’t stop ever since. I like reading books. I have so many books that I have started a mini library in my room. Sometimes when I have nothing new to read, I will read the old ones again. I like to learn new languages for fun. My mother tongue is Afrikaans but I can speak English perfectly and fluently. I have learned Dutch to a level where I can speak it a bit, spell and understand what others are saying. Dutch and Afrikaans are almost the same so it was not difficult. While I spent my time in Germany, I picked up the language where I can speak it to have a normal basic conversation I have played field hockey for almost 12 years now. Hockey is my passion and the thing I love most in the world (other than my mom). I played hockey for the u/18’s when I was only 10 years old. I have played for my School's first team for 3 years in a row. I have played provincial hockey and went on Dutch hockey tours. Like I said I absolutely love hockey! If friends and family had to describe me as a person, they would probably tell you that I am a fun, funny and organized person. I would say that my personality is balanced. I like to have fun to a certain level. The reason I say this is because my mother always tells me that having too much fun comes with too much crying meaning you can hurt yourself eventually along the way while having fun. I like to make jokes. My jokes are simple but funny. I have a bit of OCD and I like to be organised with everything in my life. I live by schedules and routines. That is my way of keeping track of everything that is going on. I’m an adventurous person, I observe everything around me, I think before I make choices, I am hard working, I am a perfectionist so I do everything thoroughly, I am a people’s pleaser but also stubborn, I rarely get angry or upset and I am a kind person overall. My parents divorced when I was 10 years old. Both moved on and remarried. I have two younger brothers. One is 13 years old and the other one is now 3 years old. I have babysat them a lot. When my parents would go to work or on dates I would look after them. I would make them meals often depending on what time of the day it was when my parents weren’t home. I always make sure that they are dressed, teeth are brushed and that they have sunscreen on. At night I would usually let them wind down where they can watch TV for only an hour or be on their tablets for an hour while I prepare dinner. After dinner, they go bath, brush their teeth and be in bed at 20:00. I will help wherever I can. With school projects, homework, do light housework in the house. I recently took a first responders course and graduated from this course to ensure better care in case anything happens. I hope I have told you everything you wanted to hear. If there is anything else that you want to know about me, please contact me. I will answer you as quickly as possible. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me better. Hopefully, I will see you soon! Nicole :)
