Introduction to families
"Dear Family" message
Dear family, Hi! I am a first-year student (again) after having switched degrees, and now that I am studying online my hours are flexible, allowing me to become a reliable part time au pair.
Why I would make the perfect au pair
I have a younger brother, a big tight knit family and 4 years in boarding school with no less than 70 sisters each year... this experience in a "big sister" role has developed my character to towards being responsible and reliable. I would describe myself as fitting for the au pair role as I am comfortably able to handle the practical side (feeding, transporting and looking after) but importantly my personality is well-suited to a caring role. I am friendly, creative and emotionally intelligent. I have also had positive personal experiences with au pairs in my own childhood which I think are valuable and may help provide necessary perspective for joining a family in that role. * I have no formal tutoring experience however I have peer tutoring experience (experience helping peers with homework/projects/studying)
Hobbies and other interests
Love cooking! Specific interest in exploring new/healthy food, but with a continued soft spot for baking and all things chocolate. Casual tennis player. Board game enthusiast - 30 seconds is a favourite. Dog person and animal friendly. Love art/painting/drawing. Beach frequenter. I spent 2022 studying a BA at UCT (courses including philosophy, history and film) and I switched degrees as well as institutions for 2023 in order to study business law.

Job description
For the first four months the young boy was transitioning between schools so my primary role was in caring for him mornings. I would facilitate a “school morning” at Kirstenbosch gardens, the Liesbeek rivers and at a few different libraries. And then one afternoon a week would be the usual afternoon au pairing with both kids. Once he was in school full time we switched to afternoons and I would manage entertainment, reading, baking and play dates.
