Introduction to families
My name is Shelby and I live in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa. I was born here, but raised in a small town called Grahamstown. I have started my journey in tertiary education, currently holding a Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree in Psychology. My goal is to study a masters degree in Forensic psychology in the year 2025. I am someone who considers herself to be kind, attentive, generous, driven, ambitious, determined, resilient, humorous, loving, friendly, outgoing, charismatic, patient, tidy and loyal.
I believe that I qualify for this position because I am sure that I would be a wonderful asset to someones family. I am extremely hardworking and always find that I always go the extra mile in everything that I do. I am very passionate about helping others, and I am also very passionate about children. I consider myself to be a pleasant and patient person who is not easily angered. I believe that I am someone that can be easily approached by others, and I am someone who is full of life and fun (but who also has the potential to be serious when I need to be). For these reasons, I believe that I can help a family to create a home environment that is suitable for the optimal growth, guidance and shaping of a child. I have not had any specific experiences as an au pair or nanny, but have babysat children of multiple ages for multiple years. I have also done a lot of outreach with kids of different ages, with duties such as helping with homework and helping with play. I adore children and believe that they are special and need to be nurtured.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time with close family and friends, and exploring. I enjoy experiencing things for the first time and consider myself to be a foodie of some sort. I enjoy outdoor activities and taking time to myself to enjoy my surroundings and environment. I am a movie and series enthusiast, and am interested in all things crime, history, psychology, and forensics related. I am an animal lover - I have a dog called Roxi and she is my confidant and best friend. Winter is my favourite season - I don't mind summer, but I am definitely more of a fan of the cold than the heat.
