Introduction to families
Dear Family, I discovered my passion for working with children in 2017 when I first started Au pairing, and since then I have wanted to become a teacher and continue a career in working with children. Over the years, I have expanded my teaching knowledge through tutoring in all subjects, Interning as a teacher’s assistant and sports coaching. I have a wide range of experience in working with young children from age of two to teenagers, therefore, I’m able to assist in early childhood development, Primary school as well High school learning assistance. I am passionate and dedicated to assisting the children in my charge to reach their full potential and strive to create engaging and supportive learning environments that inspire their curiosity and foster academic success. I bring a variety of learning methods into my teaching practices and enjoy using creative play to enhance formal learning. I have a passion for teaching early literacy, numeracy and art, as well as encouraging a love of reading and nature. I am also familiar with various curriculums, the CAPS (South African) and the international Cambridge and IEB curriculums as the family’s children have attended prestigious schools such as St John’s (Johannesburg), Crawford International, Curro and Montessori. During the year’s I have also had the opportunity to work in diverse cultural settings which has provided me with great insight into the various cultural up bringing’s of children within different communities as I have been a part of Christian (English & Afrikaans), Hindu and recently a Sesotho (Zimbabwean) family. I have also gained experience working with ADD and ADHD children, I’m proudly an advocate for inclusivity practices in the schooling systems. My core competencies include ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of children, educational planning, coordinating schedules and managing fully staffed households. I excel at building strong relationships with the parents, children and working collaboratively with the other household staff. I have previously worked two years in administration as prior work experience before au pairing and would define myself as having a warm, calm and cheerful personality. I find it easy to adapt, be flexible and resourceful to handle situations where unexpected challenges or changes may arise, I’m a very organised person, committed to honest communication, collaboration and continuous personal growth. Therefore, I am equally at home collaborating as part of a team or working independently.
You should choose me as an au pair because you can absolutely rely on me. I am an active and creative person who is always motivated and helpful and able to handle all kinds of situations with patience and cordially. Two of my strengths are that I am open-minded and adaptable which is another reason why I would be a good au pair as I can accustom myself very fast to new situations. I am adequate to the task to be an au pair because I am a mature and reliable individual and I can promise you that your children would be in good hands. I am a person who loves their work with children and performs with great dedication, commitment and ambition. Also due to the fact that I spend a large amount of time throughout the day with children I feel confident and secure in dealing with them. Another positive aspect through my work is that I encounter all kinds of children characters and I know how important it is to provide them individual attention which I am happy to spend that time with them. The safety and well-being of your children is my highest priority and responsibility, which is why I have done a first aid course. I have a good combination of work experience with children so it would be no problem for me to help the children to reach their full potential.
I enjoy living a healthy and fit lifestyle. My hobbies include running, swimming, yoga, hiking and the occasional gym class. I always encourage the children in my care to be active and eat nutritious meals, we spend many afternoons outside playing various sports and participating in adventurous outdoor activities. I am a very creative person and enjoy art, in particular painting and drawing in different mediums, in my spare time I like going to art galleries and museums, and on occasion take the children to show them how exciting these places can be. I also enjoy going to the theatre, specifically going to watch the Orchestra and theatrical plays. My additional hobbies include cooking and baking, reading, vegetable gardening and volunteering at our local animal shelters.
