Introduction to families
Hello! :) My name is Chrismi and I live in Wellington. After finishing high school in 2015, I traveled to America and worked as a special needs au pair for a year. After completing my year as an au pair, I returned home and began working as an administrative assistant at a local business in Wellington where after two years I resigned and pursued studies in professional cookery. In 2020 I finished my two year traineeship at a 4-star hotel in Cape Town where I worked full-time as a trainee chef while also being an off campus student at the International Hotel School. During my time working at the hotel, I also assisted in caring for foster children in my free time and upon completing my studies and receiving my qualification, I returned to the aforementioned assistive care full-time. I am currently employed as a teaching assistant and teach foundation phase children. I also tutor children after school, ages ranging from 8 to 17.
I feel that I would be a great au pair as I am a very fun loving, playful and energetic person. I am well organised and take pride on being able to be a fun yet responsible caretaker with a passion for bringing out the absolute best in every child I am blessed to work with. I was previously employed as an au pair in America (2016 – 2017) where I had the honour of working with an amazing little boy named Nicholas. At the time I started working for Nicholas' family, Nicholas was 5 years old and had a very busy daily schedule as he was autistic and attended various therapy appointments (including ABA, OT and food therapy). I accompanied him to all of these therapy sessions. In spite of his demanding schedule, I always ensured to provide enjoyable and educational tasks catering to his interests. The schedule of course brought into play a very structured routine, which I feel is important in any child’s life as a routine provides stability which in turn provides comfort and a feeling of safety to a child.
My hobbies and interests include literature, arts, music of all genres, animals and traveling. I enjoy spending time with both my family and friends, preferring get-togethers at home or coffee shops over nights out on the town. I enjoy boardgames and do a lot of reading in my spare time.
