Introduction to families
Dear family, I am a 42 year old mother of 3 children (aged 19, 17 and 14) My eldest son recently left to start employment at a school in the United Kingdom, and I find myself ready to explore the next chapter of my life. I currently reside in Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape, but it is my wish to relocate to Nelspruit. My daughter will reside in Graaff-Reinet to finish her schooling and my youngest son will join me in Nelspruit at the start of 2021.
I am currently employed as a Grade R teaching assistant at Union pre school and manage the aftercare facility at the school. During the past 9 years I have been extremely involved with the Union Schools and I have taught grade R, Grade 1 and 2 on a relief basis. I am passionate about young children as these formative years are critical in raising well adjusted and balanced young adults. I have worked with babies and young children since I became an aunty at the the age of 12. After I left school in 1995 I worked as a field guide specializing in educating children in eco training. I am well traveled and lived in Belgium and the UK for 10 years. As a mother myself I acknowledge the strain that home, children and work can place on family life. I firmly believe that routine, structure and consistancy within the home (without being militant) is key to a balanced family. Learning through play is relevant and important in raising happy children. I believe that with my knowledge and experience I would make an outstanding au pair
Going for long walks and reading is the way that I unwind from long and stressful days. I also love buying old furniture, restoring and painting it... much to my children's horror as I love colour. I am very creative and often find myself busy with a DIY project or some crafty idea I stumbled upon. Needless to say I incorporate a lot of arts and crafts when working with children.
