Introduction to families
Dear Host Family I am Ashleen Mary-Jo H. I am 25 years old and I worked in the USA as an au pair for 2 years 2017-2019 and I currently work as an Au Pair in Holland. I completed my National Senior Certificate in 2012 and completed my National Certificate in Dental Assisting in 2014. I also have first aid qualifications as well as training in CPR and swimming. I lived with both my parents back home in South Africa, Johannes H and Susan H. I have 2 older siblings, a sister and a brother, who are both happily married, and both have beautiful sons. We are such a big and loving family who loves spending time together. In my daily au pair life. My typical daily routine includes getting the kids up, preparing breakfast for them, getting them ready for school and packing their lunch boxes. After that is done, I get the girls ready to either go for a walk depending on the weather. If not, we’ll stay inside to draw, paint and read for a little. I spent a little time teaching my host kids Afrikaans and they are really catching on to it. While the girls take a nap I usually sit down and read with the boy. When the older boy gets home from school, I usually help him with homework and after that is done, we all play some games, read books or play outside. My household chores include cleaning up the dishes, wiping the counters and doing laundry. I have a friend Au Pair who comes to my house everyday Monday to have a play date with the girls. I took the girls to the jump around Utah every Wednesday morning (jumping and climbing for 1-5 years old’s). Every Thursday we had story time and baby yoga at our district library which the girls have so much fun at. One of the reasons I wanted to be an Au Pair is because I love kids, love exploring and love learning new cultures and new lifestyles. I do not only just want to be the nanny but also their friend and their big sister. I strive to be someone who they can talk to all the time, who they admire and who they can look up to. I would like to be part of your family and I will do my utter best to be the best for them. I hope to hear from you soon! Kind regards Ashleen H
My Au Pair experience and my time in the USA and Holland was and is still one of the best experiences of my life, because whatever you do with kids you will certainly remember it. We had fun times, crazy times and sad times but nonetheless we always had that in love. As I developed a great bond with all the kids and the parents I babysit for, I still love to keep in touch with them. I never stopped loving being around kids and I can’t think that I’ll ever get tired of them. They are so much fun, and I love spending time with them.
My Hobbies and interests are swimming, cooking, baking, reading and writing. I like to go hiking and backpacking. I love being outdoors and exploring the nature. I also took some violin classes mostly at the end of my au pair year in the US but I hope to continue them some day again.

Ashleen was an amazing au pair—we love her so much! She took amazing care of our kids, was very responsible, anticipated our needs, was very efficient, and was a great driver. I can’t recommend her enough!
