Description of tutoring experience

I am a qualified teacher with an Honour's Degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (TFFL) and a Master's Degree in Creative Writing. I also have a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), as well as a certificate in teaching basic Mandarin. In 2023, I worked full-time as a primary school English teacher in South Korea. From 2021-2022, I worked as a homeschool teacher for a student from age 12-14, covering an international syllabus for grades 7-9. Her subjects included Maths, Science, French, Mandarin, English, Geography, Art and Business Studies. I also have experience teaching English in China, tutoring Afrikaans to primary school students, and facilitating online schooling.

Dear Family, my name is Lauren and I grew up in Cape Town. I'm passionate about working with children and can offer many years of experience.

Why I would make the perfect au pair

Since 2008, I've worked with children and teenagers as a teacher, tutor, camp counselor and au pair. I am aware of the diverse needs of children and do my best to take these into account to facilitate their growth, learning and fulfilment. As a qualified teacher with years of experience, I can adapt to teaching various curricula as a homeschool teacher, or can help with homework for a range of subjects. I'm passionate about finding creative ways in which children can feel motivated towards learning! I also love working with children as an au pair, supporting them through their daily routines, playing creative games, and helping them explore their interests. I am very interested in holistic health as well, and have studied Specialised Kinesiology and Play Therapy. I've also travelled extensively, working and studying overseas, which has made me adaptable and broadened my worldview. I'm also very organised, punctual and dedicated.
