Dear Host Family.
I grew up in Durban but moved to Mpumalanga where I completed primary school and went to High School until grade 10. I then moved to Johannesburg and completed schooling there. School was an amazing experience for me, I loved taking part in as much as I possibly could. I joined the hockey team for 3 years and then proceeded to become a cheerleader. In primary school I was Deputy Head Girl of my school so from a young age I was taught responsibility and given many as well.
My family usually says that I'm the odd one out because I can be very shy at first but once I'm comfortable I open up easily. Although I can be shy, I am very social and like being around people and getting to know people. In my spare time, you'll often find me reading books specifically Romance or Mystery novels. I am a water baby, so I love swimming or anything to do with water. I like watching soccer or playing it with my younger brother. I enjoy being outdoors and doing activities such as go-karting, tennis, going to I-jump or adventure parks.
I come from an extremely large family so family to me means everything. I have lots of younger cousins, nieces and nephews so it has always been my job to look after or care for them and that is how my love for children really originates. At first, I would babysit my family but over time people that I wasn't related to, began to ask me to look after their children as well.
I've had experience caring for kids from 12 months up to 13 years old. Sometimes, it would be on weekends or during school holidays as well as during the week.
My responsibilities as being a babysitter include dropping and fetching the children from school, helping with homework, preparing meals, ensuring the house was tidy, doing outdoor activities such as a sport and on weekends I usually take the children out for recreational time. Recreational time would include going to the movies, ice rink, beach, adventure parks or somewhere the child requested I take them.
Caring for children so small took a lot of dedication, patience and kindness which are qualities that I have. My responsibilities included bathing, changing diapers, feeding, burping, putting the baby down for nap time, doing the laundry and taking the baby out for a walk.
Becoming an Au Pair is something I've always wanted to do because growing up I wish I had someone that was able to not only look after me but care about me in the process. My love for children started when I myself was a child and has only grown with each experience I have had. I believe that being an Au Pair not only means you watch a child but also get to teach a child and help a child to grow.
It would be my honour to become an Au Pair to your family. I will do my utmost best at ensuring I do what is required while making your children happy. I will respect your children, get to know them and their interests and be there to fulfill my duties as their Au Pair.
King Regards,
