"Dear Family" message

Dear Potential Family I’ve had a passion for working with children for more years than I can remember, with my ultimate goal of furthering my studies into early childhood development/special needs (ASD spectrum) education. My experience to-date varies from Edu-Care age children (4-5 years old); to children with special needs (ASD, hard of hearing and down syndrome) at College Street Primary School; with my most recent position being that of an Au Pair for an 8 year old boy. This varied experience has contributed to making me a highly adaptable individual, who is able to confidently tackle any new challenge that I am faced with. I enjoy the class room environment a lot and have found that I have learnt a lot not only from the teachers/parents that I have worked with but the children themselves. Through my experience at College Street, I am able to identify the signs that a child is “stim’ing” and how to pin point what the possible cause could be and that it could be something as simple as a pen that is facing the wrong way. Further skills I have gained are that of developing fine motor skills, helping with homework and looking after a class while the teacher was out helping with break duties. I have also been for my Vaccine.
