Dear Au Pairs Thank you for looking at this profile. I am actually the current Au Pair for this wonderful little girl. Exact dates are not yet confirmed but I will be moving to Cape Town in mid November and need someone to take over my role with this family. I have been with this family since the beginning of 2021 and they have accepted me with much love and care which I am truly grateful for and know that the love will be extended to the one who will take my place. As for the little girl, she is an absolute delight! However, she has a rare epileptic disorder known as Dravet syndrome, which on top of the serious and frequent seizures, cause her some cognitive, motor and speech delays which she is in therapy for. As such, someone who has experience dealing with children with special needs is a great advantage and even more so if you have dealt with any sort of epilepsy. A typical day would be to meet at the family's house, help get the kiddo ready for the day and then take her to school. You will need to attend school with her to ensure her safety and help her with any of her other needs including some tutoring. After school you will head home unless its a therapy day in which you will need to take her to her speech or occupational therapy session and sit in with her, taking notes for yourself so you can continue the therapy at home with her to continue her learning. After school/therapy she will generally have a nap and then will play for the rest of the day until bath time and supper time which you will need to do and then just entertain her till her parents arrive back from work. The family also has two very lovely dogs. You wont need to do any caretaking for the dogs but it would be an advantage if you are comfortable in their company
