Our small, growing family is looking to hire our first au pair.
Charlie, our sociable, curious, busy little 2-year-old son will welcome his baby brother in September, and we are looking for the perfect person to help support him and Mum at home during this big change.
Initially, we'd like to hire our au pair for 20-30 hours a week.
Charlie is at school in the mornings, so to start with we'd like an au pair to help at home from lunch-time school pick-up to when Dad finishes work: weekdays, 12pm - 6pm.
As we are only just embarking on this big step change from one to two children, we don't yet know exactly when in the day's routine we'll need the most help, so some flexibility with regards to hours is to be expected.
We are looking for someone confident, energetic and creative with whom we can build a strong, trustworthy relationship with to keep our little guy safe, happy and entertained when Mum isn't available.
Expected duties will involve supporting Charlie in his daily routine, including school pick-up (very close-by, on foot), provision of meals & snacks, putting down for naps, nappy-changes, play-time at home & some out-of-home excursions like trips to the park, playdates & extra-murals - when they are allowed again!
We'd also like our au pair to build a relationship with our newborn and take on some baby care duties too, allowing for Mum to spend some quality time with Charlie.
Coming from British/South-African parents, English as a first language is an absolute must, along with 2-3 years' experience in childcare of babies & toddlers. A natural affinity with children and interest in expanding your knowledge of childcare approaches will help considerably.
We follow a Montessori ethos for Charlie's learning & play, and a Babywise routine for newborns - so either prior experience of these or a willingness to learn will be encouraged.
The option of additional occasional evening & weekend babysitting hours would be a real bonus - once bubba is old enough to be without us for a few hours, and social life returns closer to normal! Hours are likely to increase during school holidays as well.
If this sounds like the family for you, we really look forward to hearing from you.
