We have a 5 bedroom house with 2 staff accomodation. We can discuss the best and most preferred options duing the interview process.
Family We are a family of four. We live in Waterfall Country Estate, Midrand. Shreya is our older daughter, age 6 and Aanya is aged 3.5 years. Shreya is starting grade 1 this year and Aanya attends Early Learning school at Reddam. Their schools are on the Estate. Both girls have activities at school and out of school during the week. We travel often and need someone responsible and energetic to help with scheduled activities, homework, managing unscheduled activities and “playing” with the kids (in other words planning certain home activities and crafts – e.g. Swimming with them, going for walks, going out to lunch or play areas, making crafts – as time permits). We also have a full-time, stay-in nanny that will take care of their basic needs along with the au pair during the day. We work as a team and usually our au pair will work out details of what she needs. Often home activities are done together. We are looking for a person that is confident and a self-starter. Our au-pair is part of the family and we seek a person who will be comfortable with the family and becomes part of our daily lives. We have had an au-pair for the past three years who is now moving out of Johannesburg. She will be available until 27th January to aid with the routine and for general questions. Aanya has a muscular issue – and although she is mobile – she is not able to walk independently. As such she requires additional assistance. Apart from that – she is well adjusted. Both girls can speak and articulate their needs but require someone to provide the right guidance to them while we are not around. Activities: Shreya currently attends Dance classes, horse riding, gymnastics and speech therapy. Timetables are a being finalized for the year. There may additional activities at school. She will have to taken to and picked up from activities. Important to keep track of activities – discuss progress with the teachers and keep us updated of any requirements. The au pair will manage timing as sometime activities may change and have to practice speech therapy and complete her speech and other homework. Aanya will be attending physio and speech therapy and horse-riding this year. There may be additional activities as the year progresses. We need to finalise in the next 2-3 weeks whether the au pair might have to go to school with her initially. This is open for discussion with the au pair once we meet. Sometimes the girls may have to be taken to the doctor’s appointments and there are general errands like picking up bread or planning their meals for picnics etc. They are well behaved, affectionate - little girls that treat their current au pair like a big sister.
